As a Software Architect in my day job, I spend considerable time evaluating technology stacks, solution designs and making architectural decisions. While reviewing different projects and codebases, a pattern emerged needed a better way to visualize and understand their tech stacks.
The Architect's Pain Point
In my role, I frequently face questions like:
why did we choose this framework
what are the different components of the end to end architecture
How do the dependencies impact performance?
these recurring conversations made me realize that we lacked a proper tool for visualizing and analyzing tech stacks. As an architect, I knew this wasn't just my problem - it's an industry-wide challenge.
From Idea to Starting a Side Project
Despite having a demanding role as a Software Architect, I decided to build something, ofcourse it had to be something in tech, a digital product and also, i had this in my mind for the last five years. My background in Python backend development gave me a strong foundation, but building a modern web application required expanding beyond my comfort zone :)…
Heres what i did…
I Understood the problem what developers really need when analyzing stacks Knowledge of different frameworks and their trade-offs. Experience with performance considerations. Insight into what makes codebases maintainable. Automations etc
I knew what I want to build, some sort of template or boilerplate with automation so I started mindmapping.
Then I started posting on #buildinpublic the progress. Although I am very lame at this. still learning different marketing strategies.
Started following and getting inspired by leaders in this space Marc louvion
Introducing #Myproject
FastStack (sorry still dont have a domain) is built with architects and developers in mind. I am trying to solve a clear pain point for them by reducing boilerplate and speeding up API development.
Building FastStack while working as a Software Architect has given me unique insights into both sides of the table - the enterprise perspective and the indie maker's journey.
What ill be doing next
Yes, i mindmapped again :) . Ill pick up tasks from the two topics below marketing & domain and try to progress in 2025.
